Northland Community Foundation was delighted to launch the Paihia Fund recently, with 32 people joining us to find our more about the Fund.
A sudden shower before the event didn't deter the locals, whose strong turnout shows how much the local population care about Paihia's future.
Guests enjoyed a complimentary morning tea and a chance to catch up with others who they hadn't seen in awhile. Tricia Scott, chairperson of Focus Paihia began the day by sharing the history and vision of Focus Paihia including some of the projects the charitable trust has been involved in, and some future projects they are looking to next. Tricia also shared the vision behind the Paihia Fund, which will help provide long-term funding to the community.
Jane Stearns from the Foundation explained how an endowment fund works, with the money being invested through the Foundation, and the interest being returned to the community each year. Richard Ayton from Law North Kerikeri then gave a helpful talk on how to leave a gift in your will to a cause that matters to you.
The highlight of the day was the fund's very first donation since launching from a guest who arrived ready to give!
The Paihia Fund is an endowment fund. Donations are invested, and the returns go back to local causes year after year. Every gift, large or small, helps build lasting support for Paihia.
