The Tindall Foundation

Northland Community Foundation is proud to serve as the local funding manager for The Tindall Foundation (TTF), a philanthropic family foundation dedicated to supporting communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

TTF funding is included in our annual grants round and is allocated to projects and initiatives that align with The Tindall Foundation's Family/Whānau Focus Area within Te Tai Tokerau Northland.

Each year, approximately $90,000 is available to distribute in Te Tai Tokerau Northland. Organisations can apply for grants of up to $15,000.

Applications will open during our annual funding round in May.

Applications for our 2026 Grants Round will open in May.

We expect to have approximately $6000 of funding available, thanks to the generosity of individual donors who have established funds with the Northland Community Foundation. Current grant amounts range from $500 to $2000.

  • Environment 
  • The Arts

Charities and community groups making a meaningful impact in the local community.

Applicants must:

  • Be based in Te Tai Tokerau, or
  • Deliver a substantial portion of their services in the region.

Over $7,139,000 granted

Since our launch in 2004, Northland Community Foundation has proudly granted over $7,139,000. These funds have supported a wide range of projects and organisations across sectors such as arts, animal welfare, education, environment, health, social services, and sports.

Our 2024 Impact

In 2024, our Grants Committee allocated funding to 19 deserving recipients. This funding supported operational costs, salaries, project expenses, and equipment, enabling these organisations to continue their vital mahi in Northland.

The annual funding round for 2025 is now closed, but applications for 2026 will open in May 2026.

How to Apply

The Northland Grassroots 2025 funding round is expected to open in April/May 2025. If your organisation is making a difference in Northland, keep an eye out for updates and prepare to apply!

About the Northland Grassroots Fund

The Northland Grassroots Fund grants approximately $90,000 annually to support worthy causes and charities across Northland. Organisations can apply for a grant of up to $15,000, with funds allocated to projects and initiatives that align with our goal of creating positive, long-term impact in our community. With this financial support, we aim to strengthen the organisations that strengthen our region.

Who Manages the Fund?

Northland Community Foundation acts as the Local Donation Manager for The Tindall Foundation, a philanthropic family foundation working throughout Aotearoa to support:

• Whānau/families

• Hapori/community

• Te taiao/the environment

We distribute donations on behalf of The Tindall Foundation to projects that align with their Family/Whānau Focus Area within Te Tai Tokerau Northland. These funds are further boosted by contributions made to the Northland Grassroots Fund for even greater reach and impact.
