Judy Beer Fund

A lasting gift to protect and restore Puketī Forest for generations to come.

Judy Beer was a Kerikeri real estate pioneer and a generous member of her community. She grew up in Southland and started out as a teacher. She then had a long career in real estate, founded The Professionals agency and helped many local families into their first homes. In retirement she kept giving her time, volunteering at the SPCA and teaching bridge at the local bridge club.

When Judy updated her will, she chose to leave a gift that would keep giving long after her lifetime. Her $1 million bequest set up the Judy Beer Fund to support Puketī Forest Trust and its work protecting and restoring the forest, a cause that was close to her heart. Founding Trustee of Puketī Forest Trust, Gary Bramley said, “Judy’s contribution is a powerful reminder of what one person’s generosity can achieve.”

Northland Community Foundation manages the Fund, which is invested with Craigs Investment Partners for annual income and growth. The Fund is held in perpetuity, and each year the investment income goes to Puketī Forest Trust. That means Judy’s legacy will care for Puketī’s ngahere (forest) for generations.
