This group of parents knows how to use to money effectively; they have exciting plans, which they will realise through a grant from Northland Community Foundation’s Northland Grassroots Fund of $6,000. Playcentre is about the children and their parents, who learn and grow together, strengthening their bond and investing in their future. The best way to learn is by having fun and, at Playcentres, the fun evolves as parents bring ideas from their training to the centre and grow confidence in themselves. The opportunities this funding brings, over the next few months, include increasing and refreshing the range of kupu around the centre, updating play costumes and puzzles, and refurbishing a sleep area and messy play prep site. Parents are looking forward to the culmination of their hard work - seeing the children’s responses when the new year starts in February and the full array of improvements will there for all to play with. Until then the busy beaver parents will be creating behind the scenes. This playcentre is part of a small network in the area that shares how it grows through visits and a travelling educator. Northland Community Foundation looks forward to seeing the children engrossed in their refreshed learning space when we visit again in the new year.
